Around this time a year ago, I was a nervous soon-to-be travel blogger getting ready to launch her website while wondering what she was getting herself into. And now here I am: an established travel blogger getting ready to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her blog, The Globe Getter.
It's crazy what a difference a year makes.
When I think back to all the hemming and hawing I did over this site and whether I should even launch it, I'm grateful that I ultimately quieted my fears and went for it.
In celebration of that decision and the first anniversary (or blogiversary) of The Globe Getter, I decided to take a look back and share some highlights from the last year, starting from the beginning:
January 2015
The Globe Getter launched and a week later, I attended the travel industry day of The New York Times Travel Show, an event that still feels monumental. It was where I met key people in the travel industry and began to put myself and The Globe Getter brand out there.

March 2015
I turned the big 3-0 and celebrated the occasion by traveling to Mexico by myself. I then wrote about my experience on my blog AND on Yahoo Travel. The Yahoo Travel article ended up being published on Yahoo's homepage and put me, and The Globe Getter brand, in the spotlight. I also realized the importance of not taking anything personally after reading some of the 400+ comments on Yahoo (can't win everyone over, I guess).

I attended the NY Travel Fest and met more amazing travel-obsessed people who would inspire and help me on my travel blogging journey.

I visited my first new state in the U.S. in a really long time: Ohio. My time in Ohio was spent eating great food, visiting one of my new all-time favorite museums and wine tasting (who knew there was wine tasting in Ohio?).

The Globe Getter turned six months old. To honor the occasion, I wrote about what it's really like being a new travel blogger. I also took my first press trip to Montreal, Canada.
